Porto Alegre, Brazil
On November 5, Tuesday, the Instituto Ling in Porto Alegre, Brazil, opens "A poética de Tunga: uma introdução". Curated by Paulo Sérgio Duarte.
The exhibition, conceived in collaboration with Instituto Tunga, celebrates the ten-year anniversary of the Instituto Ling and gathers over 60 works by Tunga, comprehending many decades of the artist's career. ‘Tunga acts as a weaver, building a beautiful, endless carpet; his work, which will never be completed, is made of several intertwining and entangled threads,’ writes the curator.
During the exhibition opening, starting at 7pm, a talk between Antônio Mourão, co-founder of Instituto Tunga and son of the artist, and Clara Gerchman, co-founder and collection manager of the Instituto Tunga, will be held. The event is free to attend and registration must be made online.
