The Harvard Art Museums in the USA have acquired two works from the series Famílias Lingüísticas - Línguas em Retomada [Linguistic Families – Recaptured Languages] by Daiara Tukano.
The works represent Indigenous language families as trees, significant in the worldview of their respective peoples. Familia Katukina - Elevated like the Pupunha and Familia Mura - Sure as the Taboca were incorporated into the collection of the Fogg Museum, the oldest museum at the American university, after being acquired at ARCOMadrid earlier this year, with the support of Sophocles N. Zoullas and Silvia Zoullas.
Made in ink on paper, the works in the series form a forest, highlighting the intrinsic connection between the defence of Indigenous rights and cultures and environmental preservation.
