U’awá Bu’sá – manto do Urubu Rei, 2021
Starting on Friday, May 10, the Museu de Arte do Rio - MAR, in Rio de Janeiro, will host Pamuri Pati: World of Transformation, a solo exhibition by Daiara Tukano.
First shown last October at the Museu Nacional da República, in Brasília, the exhibition is accompanied by a critical text by Lilia Schwarcz and brings together works from throughout Daiara's career, constituting a retrospective of her production.
The Museum has also been presenting the exhibition Nhe'ẽ Porã: Memória e Transformação, curated by Daiara Tukano and anthropologist Majoí Gongora since April. The exhibition was first held in 2022, at the Museu da Língua Portuguesa in São Paulo — and was the museum's first dedicated to the languages currently spoken by Indigenous peoples in Brazil. Then, in 2024, the show traveled to Ségur Hall, at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France, and to the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, in Belém, where it is still on view.
The show at MAR, displays objects from the Tukano people that belong to the collection of the Museu Nacional dos Povos Indígenas (National Museum of Indigenous Peoples), also in Rio de Janeiro.
