Phantom Dust, by Vivian Caccuri is on view at the Folkwang Museum in Essen, Germany.
Created in 2018, the installation comprises a textile piece and a sound recording made in the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, USA. Ephemerality and presence play important roles in the work, which mixes reverberations and echoes of Mexican music with sounds of nature, voices, whispers, and footsteps. Its disembodied yet voluminous presence becomes visible in the incessant movement of the textile's surface.
The exhibition is part of the 6 ½ Weeks series, dedicated to showcasing young contemporary artists, and runs through July 7.
