about

Thiago Hattnher’s research is based on experimentation with painting using different media and techniques. His works mobilize a repertoire of images from art history, memories, and prosaic scenes, in which various images and executions form their own pictorial spaces juxtaposed on the same surface. As such, the artist makes different times and tones coexist, resulting in a dialogical relationship within each work and establishing a dilated relationship with the viewer’s gaze.

Holding a BFA and a MFA from the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo (ECA–USP), São Paulo, Brazil, and was invited for the FoAir – Further on Artist in Residency, NY, USA, in 2024. His first solo show took place in 2024, at the Jeremy Scholar gallery, in London, UK. In the same year, Hattnher has participated in the group exhibitions Surge et veni and Calvino’s Six Memos, at Millan, São Paulo, and On Landscape, Greene Naftali, New York, USA; On Ma, Galeria Pedro Cera, Lisbon, Portugal; and Daffodils Baptized in Butter, The Arts Club, London, UK. In 2023, his works were featured in Window, Galerie Elsa Munier, Paris, France; Outdoors, Nowhere in Nothing, Andrew Edlin Gallery, New York, USA; Máscara, Maré, Memória, Lima Galeria, São Luís; Fundo Falso, Ainda Brasil, São Paulo.
