About

Galeria Millan is pleased to present The conflict between the eagle and the snake, which brings together a section of 28 recent works by the São Paulo artist based in Lisbon, Portugal, Fernanda Feher. With a presentation text by the curator and art critic Kiki Mazzucchelli, the set consists of works that merge drawing, painting and collage around a personal and playful mythology of the artist.

Feher’s practice starts from the fantastic realism in which autobiographical references coexist with contemporary elements and symbologies such as female figures, golden snakes, flying horses, jaguars and other beings against the background of fantastical, exuberant, colorful and meaningful landscapes. In this exhibition, the artist turns, as the title points out, to the connection between matter and spirit: the serpent, as a symbol of the earth and the eagle whose flight manifests as the spiritual search itself. With a variety of materials ranging from watercolor and acrylic paint to glitter and children’s stamps, the works presented invite the viewer to an exercise in contemplation and enchantment on the cycles of life.

The show is part of the gallery’s special program aimed at giving space to new artists and providing a fertile environment for experimentation.
