THE STRANGE AND THE RARE
An Exhibition by Mário Cravo Neto curated by Christian Cravo and Bené Fonteles.
On view at Anexo Millan until July 13th
Photographer, sculptor and drawer, Mário Cravo Neto received his first orientation at the arts world from his dad: the artist Mário Cravo Júnior. Since the beginning of his career, he showed great interest especially on photography.
This exhibition, comprised of 71 pieces, throws a light on a less known part of his production, made up by installations, sculptures and drawings conceived between the late 60s in New York – where he lived for some years – and the early 80s, in Salvador, his hometown.
One of the pillars of the collection at this exhibition was the car accident he had that left him immobilized for a year at this parent’s house, in a period of deep pain and transformation. His records from this time travels through the mystical and religious imaginary.
We revisit Mario Cravo Neto with the loving reverence from the curators Christian Cravo, his son and also a photographer, and Bené Fonteles, artist and close friend.
