About

Since he erupted onto the visual arts scene at the end of the 1960s, Barrio has remained faithful to his convictions and has been a savage critic of socio-economic, ethical-political and esthetic reality, continuing to express his poetics with an implacable coherence that is hardly palatable to the dominant elite.

As the critic Carlos Basualdo has noted, “Barrio’s work stands out on account of its intellectual sobriety, the extreme clarity of the artistic operations that it undertakes and the firmness with which he has remained faithful to the consequences of his thinking.”

Barrio has described this exhibition as follows: “The empty spaces that comprise the Gallery Millan Antonio will be used/created by myself, Artur Barrio, without a pre-established plan in relation to the same spaces, which may be considered as the extension of a note/book and hence a studio/space open to the probable/improbable.”
