About

“Thiago’s work can be seen as a search for the continuous cycle of nature,” wrote the art critic Luisa Duarte. Movement and nature, two key points of Thiago’s poetics are present in this exhibition, composed of 4 films condensed in a videoinstallation, watercolors, photographs and a sculpture, which are articulated in a positive relation fire / water, light / shadow, celestial / chthonic.

The films, all unseen, acts as the backbone of the exhibition, and creates a permanent dialogue between the natural and the artificial element. Shot on the countryside of Minas Gerais, they continue the research begun in Homenagem a William Turner, recently presented in the Triennial of New Delhi, where a scene develops within a fixed and continuous plan.

The videos Sublimação e PrecipitaçãoCondensação ZêniteFonte Dupla and Zênite Invertido are autonomous units but maintain close relations with each other, as if they were parts of the same body, or phases of an animal that does not cease to metamorphose.

The photographs are still from the films and like the watercolors allude to the prolongation of the relation between work of art and nature. The unseen sculpture, Paisagem Cozida is the sculptural version of the movie Fonte Dupla and will be perfomed only in the opening, because like the film, it has a duration in time.
