About 70 new works that make up VRIDO, named after the new solo exhibition by Dudi Maia Rosa at Millan, are made of pigmented polyester resin, a procedure on which the artist’s production has been working for some decades, gives rise to new “families” of works, some of which “honor” (in the words of the critic Rodrigo Naves, who signs the text that accompanies the exhibition) the artist Sergio Camargo, using surfaces enervated by pointed forms, now advance against each other and in different directions.
It is worth noting, however, that these new works of Dudi do not depart from the rationale of using modules which, as in Camargo, were organizing expansive surfaces while joining one another. In Dudi, the sectioning of the surfaces forms species of prisms which absorb light and, in a certain way, retain it inside the bodies of the work, which, made of resin and therefore of a certain translucency, have no front and back surface and structure.
In VRIDO, Dudi brings together works that reaffirm all the time the ubiquity of the images in the present, but speculating a concrete dimension of these images - the works look like paintings, sometimes with projection screens, sometimes with stained glass and in others, still , with Murano reliefs, objects that insinuate to possess three-dimensional events of colors and forms within themselves but that nevertheless cease to be transparent surfaces of glass. Dudi’s works are occasions of corporeity, of physical presence, to which images (these abstract entities which circulate freely and have neither time nor place) must answer here and now.
