Jaider Esbell, Untitled, 2021 (detail)

A work by Jaider Esbell (1979, Normandia, RR – 2021, São Sebastião, SP, Brazil) was acquired by MALBA - Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires in Argentina.

The museum's acquisitions committee, composed of Gonzalo Aguilar, María Amalia García, Julieta González, Andrea Giunta, Adriano Pedrosa, and Octavio Zaya, with consulting from the Mapuche artist Seba Calfuqueo, decided to incorporate the untitled painting from 2021, measuring over two meters in length. The work was exhibited in 2022 at the Mondo Reale exhibition at Triennale Milano, Italy.

Jaider Esbell contributed to establishing an art ecology driven by indigenous artists and exercised what he called Artivism, uniting artistic creation with the defense of indigenous and land rights. His legacy has been consolidated worldwide, having participated in exhibitions such as Siamo Foresta at the Triennale Milano in 2023 and The Milk Of Dreams at the 59th Venice Biennale, as well as Mondo Reale, Living Worlds, and Le Serpent Cosmique, organized by the Fondation Cartier, all in 2022.

His work is featured in the collections of institutions such as the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, France, the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, France, the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, and the Instituto PIPA in Rio de Janeiro.
